All the goodness of outdoor exercise. . .

We know that exercise in general is great for us, but is there any difference between training indoors vs outdoors? Science says there is. So let’s take a look at all the amazing benefits that come with taking your workout to the great outdoors. . .

ONE – You burn more calories. That’s right, just by taking your session outdoors you will burn more calories than if you did an identical session inside. The main reasons being that wind resistance begins to affect all of your movements when you’re outdoors, which builds up over a session and the changing terrain and uneven ground force you to work harder as you move across it.

TWO – You reduce stress. Various scientific studies have proven a connection with spending time outdoors and a reduction in a persons stress levels. Fresh air and increased oxygen consumption cause your body to produce more Serotonin which is a chemical that makes you feel good, meaning your stress goes down and your happiness goes up. Win win.

THREE – Sunshine  . When our skin is exposed to sunlight we produce Vitamin D3. This is so important as Vitamin D3 is important for bone health, metabolic function and our mood. Exposure to sunlight has also been proven to help us sleep better at night, improve our immune system and increase endorphin production.

FOUR – You’ll feel better. A study carried out by the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry analysed studies of more than 800 adults and found that outdoor exercise was associated with greater energy levels and revitalisation, as well as a decrease in anger, confusion, depression and tension. Not bad.

FIVE – For most people, Outdoor Group Exercise is more fun, more motivating and more effective than training alone. People work harder and stay exercising for longer when other people are there sharing the activity with them.

At 1000 Calorie BootCamp we give you the best of both worlds. A mix of Indoor and Outdoor in the Winter, and  Outdoors  during the glorious summer weather.
