The easy way to eat 500 fewer calories per day – and not even notice!

The easy way to eat 500 fewer calories per day – and not even notice!

Easy peasy lemon squeezy tips to cut out 500 Calories every day without even trying:

Burn more Calories than you eat and you’ll lose weight. The opposite is also true – remember Christmas?

A lot of us are carrying a few pounds of Body Fat from all those excess Calories and rather than waste the excess, we store it as Body Fat – which is bad news for our Health.

The good news is that when you eat fewer Calories than you need, your body uses your Fat to make up the shortfall. All you need to do is create a Calorie deficit and you’ll lose weight – Simple!

You can cut out at least 500 Calories every day just by doing these things:

Save 140 Calories per can by switching to diet Coke/Pepsi etc. Diet versions have just 2 Calories so if you drink 2 cans a day (and many of us do) you’ll save 280 Calories!

Save 50 Calories every cup by having skimmed milk in your tea and coffee.

Save 100 Calories by having Rich Tea biscuits instead of Chocolate ones (80 Calories each!) in your coffee break.

Save at least 200 Calories by reading food labels! There are hidden Calories everywhere! An innocent looking sandwich often contains 650 Calories! Try and keep to under 350 Calories per sandwich and avoid ones with mayonnaise!

Save 100 Calories by eating fruit rather than having smoothies. Orange juice and smoothies are great and contain lots of good stuff – as well as lots of Calories! A small smoothie can contain nearly 200 Calories! If you had an apple (just 70 Calories) and drank some water instead, you’d save over 100 Calories!

Save 100’s of Calories by eating natural foods – processed foods tend to contain LOADS of Calories and unhealthy Fats and salt too. So instead of having the Cornish Pastie with chips, opt for Chicken, Rice and Vegetables instead. Lean Chicken, Fish and Vegetables are generally low calorie, so fill up on these if you’re hungry and cut back on the processed stuff!

Save 100’s of Calories by drinking a little less! Alcoholic drinks contain a lot more calories than you might think. Beer contains around 220 Calories a pint. A glass of wine is around 200 Calories. A slimline Gin and Tonic is just 56 Calories. Opt for diet/slimline mixers and pace yourself! A great many of us drink too much, which is bad for health and bad for your body shape!

Oh, and don’t forget to come to BootCamp! You’ll burn LOADS of Calories if you come regularly!

One LemonBody Client has just lost 20kg (that’s over 3 stone!) in 4 months by following our advice. Anyone can do it – create a deficit of 1000 Calories a day by diet and exercise and you’ll lose 1kg a week – that’s over 2 pounds every week!

“But I’m too busy!”… We understand, but everyone’s busy!  Put yourself at the top of your priorities and commit to looking after yourself – you’re important too!

Make 2017 the year you invest on your Health!

Your LemonBody Healthy Eating Guide!

Your LemonBody Healthy Eating Guide!

This guide works whether you’re trying to lose weight, or just eat more healthily. It’s not a diet, it’s a simple way to eat for life, not just for a few weeks – and what’s more, it really works!

If you want to lose some weight, cut right back on Bread, Potatoes, Rice, Pasta and all Cakes, Sweets and Fizzy Drinks. Replace with lots of Vegetables and Fruit instead – and drink plenty of water!

To function correctly, your body needs good quality Protein, Fats and Carbohydrates:

Protein comes from Meat, Dairy, Eggs, Nuts and Beans. It can also be found in Tofu and Quorn. Protein forms the basic structure of all cells in the body and is essential for healthy muscles and efficient immune system function. If you workout regularly, you’ll need more protein.

Fats are essential for you. Unsaturated Fats are the healthiest and come from plant sources like Olive Oil, Avocados and some Nuts such as Almonds, Brazils and Peanuts. Saturated Fats come from animal sources and can cause health problems, so these are best avoided or consumed in small quantities (less than 20 grammes per day).

Carbohydrates (Carbs) are the fuel on which your body runs. Carbs come from plants. Once in your body, Carbs turn to sugar (glucose), which your body uses as fuel. Carbs either turn to sugar quickly or slowly. You should try and eat Carbs that release their sugar slowly as these are far healthier and less likely to be stored as Body Fat. These Carbs are called Low GI Carbs and are the healthy ones. Low GI Carbs are found in food that is in a natural state and not processed – think steamed vegetables and fresh fruit rather than cakes or pies.

Fat Loss – How many calories?

Fat Loss – How many calories?

Fat Loss – How many calories?

The big question – How many calories can I eat a day and lose fat? Let’s keep it simple.

Everyone is different, there is no “one size fits all” answer. But there are ways to work it out roughly and then all you need to do is be consistent and track your results.

Most calorie calculators online will hugely overestimate how many calories you need.

As a rule of thumb try this:

12 x Bodyweight in lbs.

Example: I weigh 158lbs so for me this would be 12 x 158 which gives me 1896 calories per day.

Healthy/sustainable weight loss should be around 0.5-1lb per week (less if you don’t have much to lose) If you lose less than 0.5lbs in a week try reducing by 50 calories. If you lose more than approx 1.5/2lb a week add around 25-50 calories.

The goal is to be able to eat as many calories as possible and still lose body fat. If we cut our calories too low and crash diet, we will be hungry and tired and our metabolism will slow down –  making it even harder to lose weight.

Give this a try and adjust as you go for the best results.
It’s simple but effective

PROTEIN – How much do I really need?

PROTEIN – How much do I really need?

PROTEIN – How much do I really need?

We’ve talked about the fact that the most important factor in weight/fat loss is total calories and we’ve talked about how to roughly work out how many calories you need if you want to be losing weight. But now let’s talk about where those calories should come from.

There are three macro-nutrient sources where we get our calories. Fats, proteins and carbohydrates. How many of your calories come from each will determine how much of your weight loss is fat and can play a big part in your body composition (how much of you is fat and how much is muscle)

The ideal protein intake is going to vary from person to person but a great rule of thumb is approx 2g of protein per kg of body weight every day. So for example I weigh around 72kg which means daily I want to eat about 144g of protein. For easy maths I’m going to round it up to 150g.

If my total calories for fat loss are around 1900 that would leave me with 1300 calories to get from fats and carbs (protein has 4 calories per gram so 150g protein is 600 cals)

If I’m training hard I’ll get more of my left over calories from carbs and if I’m resting I’ll get more from fats.

And that’s it! Simple once you know how
